about kim nielsen

Kim Nielsen is a Trained Spiritual Director and Retreat Leader who enjoys creating environments and opportunities for people to encounter God. She desires for everyone to discover who God created them to be and live into their True Self in God. She enjoys listening to life stories and helping others become aware of God's presence in their lives, recognizing God's invitation, deepening that relationship by responding more faithfully to Him, and guiding them to take their next step.

Kim's training ground as a Spiritual Director began through Transforming Communities® led by Ruth Haley Barton. Further training was through Sustainable Faith—Indy/The Springs. Kim received a Master’s Specialization in Spiritual Transformation from Northern Seminary (2013) in partnership with The Transforming Center®. Additional training includes companioning others in the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises and as a MOS Enneagram Certified Practitioner.

Her emphasis is on developing sacred rhythms in daily life, applying spiritual practices that keep us open and available to God for his work of spiritual transformation.
Kim worked on a church staff for eleven years in several areas and as a Christian Formation Director.

Kim offers one-on-one spiritual direction for everyone on the spiritual journey, honoring all traditions and practices. After working on a church staff, she understands the need and provides a safe space for leaders (on staff, as a volunteer or an organizational position) to share outside of their ministry context. Kim is a Retreat leader offering retreats, utilizing a spiritual practice or discipline, spiritual direction for personal retreats and discernment for designing your own retreats.

She also provides other tools for the spiritual life to help those seeking to deepen their relationship with God, further their prayer life, discern next steps on the journey, and understand who God created them to be. Kim has been trained to walk another through the Enneagram, a tool for self-knowledge in our process of transformation. She is a facilitator for Listen to My Life, a portfolio of unique visual maps that help people document their life stories (Life Mapping) for the purpose of spiritual growth and meaningful action, recognizing God's story in their life. She companions those who God invites to the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises.

Kim was born and raised in Mid-Missouri and now lives in Breckenridge, CO. She is a widow and has two daughters and three sweet grandchildren. She delights in her two Yorkshire pups, reading, taking walks, traveling, spending time with God, especially on retreats, in nature, and with close friends.
